Residential project in Design Development.

An approx. 4500 square foot single residential home located just outside of Castroville, Tx. Farmhouses and barns were the starting point as an idea. Family and the communal act of cooking a grand dinner are very important to the clients. The main space of the program is a 20 foot wide by 50 foot long room with cathedral height wooden ceilings showcasing decorative trusses. Views to the West looking down approx. 100 feet in elevation towards a valley to witness the sunset was very important. Alignment of the long sides of the building facing West is something that is usually avoided but the clients insisted this was very important to them. 8 foot deep covered porches that wrap around the building will help mitigate solar heat gain into the building during the hotter times of the year.
